Hi! I’m Adrienne. Thanks for visiting! Cracktheplates.com is my personal blog. My sweetheart Nate runs its dizygotic twin, http://chiptheglasses.com, where he focuses on open source technology & doing interesting artsy things with it, like writing a Burroughsesque cut-up poetry generator. Our names come from one of many songs of the dwarves in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. (We’re both kind of obsessed with the 1977 Rankin-Bass animated TV movie.)
My politics are progressive and my posts are usually about food. Happily living without flesh or animal “products” for almost eleven 12+ years, I have come to see how living vegan is one of the most effective things I can do to nurture my own body and my relationships to other humans, non-human animals, & the environment. And the food is fabulous!
If you’d like a recipe that’s not posted, feel free to e-mail me at cracktheplates (at) gmail (dot) com.
Cat Unix (variously called Ra-ra, Unixera, wickidera, and worse) makes guest appearances occasionally. Cat Perl (Perlba, Perly-girl) joined our family last winter and has been making trouble ever since.
Finally, I’m a wholesaler of small-batch, artisanal vegan desserts as Kandai Cakery in Atlanta, GA, where I also do consulting for restaurants seeking to make their menus welcoming to vegans. Learn more at www.kandaicakery.com, check out pictures on the facebook page, and contact us by e-mail at kandaicakery (at) gmail (dot) com Thanks!
free love lives without heartache.

i like reading food blogs because i am always seeking for new recipes.’:*
do you know anything about a group of friends who get together and cook meals in atlanta? someone heard the story on a public radio show that aired in Memphis, but I cannot find it anywhere. they may run a restaurant now…
hey justin, I don’t! but it sounds like you’re talking about the loose idea of a dinner co-op. Just gather a group of friends who are interested in eating together weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly and rotate cooks. Each time you meet one person or family cooks and serves the food, and then the next time someone else does, and so on and so forth.
