last night Nate happened to be on twitter just before bed, notifying the computer-poetry community of his first contribution. luckily, this was also four minutes after catlanta told us about the candler park drop.
so we dropped everything – computers, steaming soymilk-scented rooibos, a watering can (plants like late-night feedings, too) – and fled. catlanta fans have been so ravenous lately that pessimistic me was certain it’d already be gone. and it’s “an easy one”, too, i groaned – stuck high atop a MARTA rainbow and in full view of the candler park flower mart signage that graced Catlanta’s tip-off photo. surely it’d be gone.
nate raced towards the sign as i held back in disbelief. ”there she is!” incredulous. “really?!”
we did an embarrassing little boogie, victoriously smashing our hands together in the air as suspicious cars scooted by.
(beat.) (eyebrows of recognition.)
“…what about that one at manuel’s?”
“surely IT’s gone. i mean, it’s saturday night, people are at the bars, bored on their smartphones, surely they saw the tweet. it’s been gone for a while now.”
but, i mean, we could try…
RACE, RACE, RACE! a black-and-white striped awning, the parking lot, a grey box, butterfly wings and… catlanta! catlanta! catlanta!
high fives, goofy chuckling, folks gazing out of windows at a couple of slap-happy drunks feverishly clutching painted metal.
first task once home: introducing them to their sisters, Unix (Baby Rar) and Perl:
baby rar checks our her new sisters.
they’re kittens?! give them to perl.
perl’s a bit more of a nurturer, anyway.
